CompTIA released Cybersecurity Trends Impacting Careers and CompTIA Certifications, this is a summary of what they found, and how it can affect your next job role.

  1. The main skills for cybersecurity will not change but the infrastructure environment will be different. The main policy difference will be when specialists are storing the data in a third-party system, there needs to be ownership rules and agreements.
  2. Cybersecurity attacks have increased, and IT practitioners need to defend against the new and old attacks. Using drones to fly over to capture data will be another threat to consider and specialists need to be aware to defend against low flying objects.
  3. Software security is also a threat in many organizations with the boom in cloud services and IoT devices. With this boom in security, CompTIA CySA+ “will cover more application security analyst skills, while CompTIA Security+ will cover cybersecurity best practices for the software development life cycle (SDLC).” Be ready for this change when taking the CompTIA CySA+ Training Course
  4. Cybersecurity specialists need to be more proactive in predicting and safeguarding against these new threats. The job roles require specialists to hunt out threats and bring new techniques for finding incidents outside of SOC.
  5. The cybersecurity specialist needs to make sure that their practices comply with IT rules and regulations. Otherwise, the corporations that employ them will face heavy fines for breaking government regulations.
