Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP)
The Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP) offers education and training for high-demand jobs to Veterans who are unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Keep reading to find out if you’re eligible and how to apply.
Am I eligible for this program?
To be eligible for this program, you must meet all the requirements listed here.
All of these must be true. You’re:
- At least 22 years old, but not older than 66, and
- Unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and
- Not eligible for GI Bill or VR&E benefits (or, if you’re eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill, you’ve transferred all of your benefits to family members), and
- Not rated as totally disabled because you can’t work, and
- Not enrolled in federal or state jobs programs, and
- Not receiving unemployment benefits (including CARES Act benefits)
How to Get Started
1) Gather documents and assess the list for high-demand occupations: Have your discharge papers (DD214) available prior to completing the application. Additionally, you will require a bank account and extra personal data with the process of the application. If you’ve misplaced or lost the DD214, you may apply to get a new copy by going to the National Archives site
2) You can apply for benefits via the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs VRRAP site: Apply Here for the benefits. Be certain that you print a copy of the application as you complete this process. The process of approving the application can take up to 4 to 6 weeks, according to the VA. If you’re approved, you’ll get a Certificate of Eligibility in the mail.
3) Enrollment: IP will get back to you with the details on getting registered for your course at Intellectual Point.
4) Talk to Intellectual Point About Financial Services: As you’ve registered for courses, bring one copy of the completed VRRAP application and DD214 to Intellectual Point. You are responsible for reimbursement of every book charge as you get your benefits. You’ll get your Certificate of Eligibility in the mail within four to six weeks from the application date. When you receive your certificate, bring one copy to Intellectual Point so we can verify it.

G.I. Bill® vs. VRRAP
To repeat, the VRRAP doesn’t apply to plans at a 4-year school. It has to be a VA-approved plan at a technical school or community college. The funds go right to the vet every month and she or he is responsible for paying all educational charges.
The VRRAP Program is set to offer aid to almost 100,000 unemployed vets over the following 2 years. If you are eligible, visit eBenefits to submit an application. Prior to applying, be certain to have your bank routing number, as well as account number for the direct deposit, the location and name of the school, the plan you want to pursue, and the corresponding high-demand field.
How long will this program be available?
VRRAP will be available until December 11, 2022. They will stop making payments on this date—or when we reach either the $386 million funding limit or the 17,250 participant limit.
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill. All training for the VRRAP program will be located in our Sterling Office 46175 Westlake Drive, Suite 250, Sterling, VA 20165.
All of the VRRAP approved Intellectual Point programs and pathways can now be attended virtually. We not only provide you an immersive collaborative learning experience online, but we also provide you virtually all the necessary tools and resources such as quiz portal access, simulations, virtual labs, etc. to successfully pass your certification tests. Our virtual remote classes have been very popular and provide the same rich learning experience as the physical classroom.
